Fire safety, ventilation and daylight important in logistic centre Tuscany

« Back

Client pleased with aesthetics Brakel® Eura louvered ventilators

It was important to Prada, the owner of two new warehouses in Tuscany Italy, that there would be a pleasant indoor climate with good ventilation and sufficient daylight in the new buildings. Of course it was also of utmost importance that adequate fire safety systems would be installed.

Prada asked Certified Brakel Partner Bovema Italia to come up with a design which met legal requirements as well comfort desires.

Natural smoke ventilation UNI 9494-1

The two warehouses have a surface of 10.000 m² each. Brakel designed the natural smoke and heat ventilation system (SHEV) according to the Italian UNI 9494-1 standard and installed 148 Brakel® Eura louvered ventilators (type 220-4) on one warehouse and 147 on the other.

Two in one: SHEV and daily ventilation

The SHEV system has an important advantage: it can also be used daily for natural ventilation. A control station regulates daily ventilation as well as smoke ventilation. In this, smoke ventilation always overrules daily ventilation in case of fire.

Translucent blades

As daylight and transparency are also priorities in the warehouses, polycarbonate blades with a U-value of 1,85 W/m²K were integrated into the louvered ventilators.

The result: safe and pleasant working areas.
