SHEV system effectively removes smoke during fire at NDSM Amsterdam

« Back

Fire started in a business with 3D printers

On Monday, January 15, a fire broke out at a company with 3D printers due to a fire in an NDSM warehouse where a business centre is located. The 1st supervisor of the fire brigade, Mr M. Jobs, indicated that the smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system in the warehouse worked well; the smoke vents were open, the smoke was expelled through the roof of the warehouse and the fire brigade had a good view of the fire so that it could be extinguished effectively.

Three people inhaled smoke during the fire, and were treated on site. Gas bottles were also present in the 3D-printing company. The fire brigade was able to remove them in time.

SHEV system

The SHEV system installed by Brakel Atmos in the NDSM warehouse consists of glass louvres of type Brakel® Estra in the façade for air supply, Brakel® Eura louvre vents in the roof for smoke exhaust ventilation, and smoke screens for smoke compartmentation.
